Continuing from the last time , I would like to introduce the new Speedmaster.

This time it's a Hesalight model.
That's right, it's the one you can take to space.

There are two main types of hand-wound Speedmaster models. One is the sapphire crystal model introduced last time. Left in the image below.

The other is a model whose glass part is made of a reinforced plastic called Hesalite. In the image below, it's on the right, and it's the one I'm going to introduce this time.

This new current model is the eighth generation.
Since 1964, the case size and dial design have not changed for nearly 60 years.

This time, the movement has been updated to a new model along with the master co-axial movement with super antimagnetic performance.

By eliminating the inner case, we were able to reduce the weight of the watch. This Hesalight model is considerably lighter.

As the name suggests, the Speedmaster was born as a watch for motor sports.

There are many great things about this watch. First of all, the tachymeter on the outer circumference is the first watch to be placed around the glass.
This is a good design, so many companies imitated it and it became a popular design for wristwatches with chronographs.

And movement.
The image above is a complete reproduction of the movement cal.321 at the time.

In the 1940s when the Spimas was being developed, the chronograph movement was about 30mm. Valjoux 22, 23 and Venus 150.

It goes without saying that putting a large movement in a waterproof case makes the watch itself larger.

At that time, when you look at it now, ultra-small watches were considered good, so Omega teamed up with Lemania to create the world's smallest chronograph movement at 27.3mm.

What makes the Speedmaster so great is that it is both practical and aesthetically pleasing in terms of legibility and design, such as the tachymeter.

Knowing this development history, the Speedmaster is an epoch-making wristwatch that was made from the very beginning! It will be.

Of course, the romantic story of leaving the earth and going to the moon is important, but if you think about it as a result, I think the process up to that point is also worthy of praise.

Looking at the engraving on the back cover, I noticed that the text has changed from before.
