All parts related to reception performance have been newly developed, the ability to find satellites has been improved, and time information can be acquired in as little as 3 seconds. In addition, by equipping the hour and minute second hands with independent motors, the hand movement speed during time adjustment has been dramatically improved. (*1)
In addition, as of October 2018, it is compatible with all of the quasi-zenith satellites "Michibiki", which are designed to stay almost directly above Japan for a long time. It boasts a high reception success rate. (*2)

Home/local time can be switched instantly "time transfer function"
A simple button operation (hold down the buttons at 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock at the same time) makes it possible to instantly switch between home and local time.

Achieving a smaller case size by further reducing power consumption
With a newly designed movement equipped with a newly developed ultra-low power consumption GPS module, the power consumption is about 1/4 that of the debut model "7X series" and about half that of the second generation "8X series". We succeeded in reducing power consumption, and along with this, we downsized the solar charging system and the movement itself, and as a finished product, the world's smallest and thinnest (*3) GPS solar watch with a case diameter of 42.9 mm and a thickness of 12.2 mm was born. .

Ultimate stress-free "super smart sensor (automatic time adjustment)"
"Smart sensor (automatic time adjustment) (* 4)", which is Seiko's original technology, has evolved further. The "5X Series" employs a new system that automatically adjusts the time from when sunlight is detected to when reception begins, depending on the user's usage environment, to the timing with the highest reception success rate. Furthermore, due to power saving, reception by arbitrary time setting (the time when forced reception was successful last time), which was a supplementary specification in the past, has been strengthened, and automatic time adjustment is performed up to twice a day by a different reception method. We realize high time precision. *When the battery charge is insufficient, reception will not be performed. When you move the time zone, you need to correct the time zone.
